Near-fatal disease prompted Pilates ProWorks franchisee to regain power and purpose through business ownership
Just as Violette was breaking ground on the construction of her new Pilates ProWorks studio in San Anselmo, California, she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease that flipped her life, as she knew it, completely upside down.
The often-fatal disease completely re-routed Violette’s trajectory, and her husband took over all aspects related to the construction and opening of her studio so that she could focus on fighting for her life.
After seven months of intensive chemotherapy, aggressive steroids, immune suppressants and a slew of other medicinal cocktails, Violette was able to overcome the illness, but her chemo treatments had completely destroyed her muscle tone, leaving her so weak to the point that she wasn’t able to walk or even lift a dinner plate.
Soon, the Pilates business that Violette had started launching prior to her diagnosis became the roadway to her recovery and healing, restoring her physical and mental well-being and strength.
This year, Violette is celebrating two years in business, one year of good health and a lifetime to empowering others through her own experience.
We’re inspired by Violette’s story and drive to succeed – she’s a reminder that even when life throws you curveballs, things can still make a turn for the better when you pursue the aspects of yourself that bring fulfillment.
